Library Kiosk at the Pickering GO station?
The Toronto Public Library is considering installing an automated book dispensing kiosk at Union Station:
City library considering book-dispensing kiosk at Union Station - thestar.com
Pickering Library staff have been considering this service for a number of years. The start-up cost has always presented an issue - $200,000 K according to Toronto Public Library, although this could be done in a small community for about $110,000.
I would be interested in any feedback from our clients - Would you use this service while travelling the GO?
Please let me know your thoughts.

While the machines may seem like a great idea I would prefer more resources went into acquiring more audiobook and ebook content. I enjoy audiobooks when I commute because I find it difficult to read a book when I get on the crowded train at Pickering. Ebooks are also going to take off as we see more ereaders approaching the $99 price point.
Hi David:
At the moment, we have audiobook content and ebook content available through NetLibrary and Overdrive on the Library's web site. If you are not familiar with these resources, please take a look -
If you visit the Central or Petticoat Creek branches, staff will download popular audiobook titles from itunes on to your ipod.
That being said, I agree with you. I think that we need to purchase more audiobook and ebook content and will be looking into that in the very near future.
Thank you David, for your feedback.
hi cathy
this is a reply to the kiosk at union i think its a great idea and it is nice, but not necessary i no there is a lot of work that has to be done with the central locations and branches as well. I think it would be more beneficial and efficient if that money went to the the library's location and core issues first.
I dunt seem the kiosk as high demand; most individuals who borrow from our branch are within our areas as well
